During the Survey Corps' pursuit, the Colossal Titan's heat and blast and a swarm of mindless Titans claim many soldiers' lives. Exhausted, Bertholdt and Reiner retreat with Ymir, dragging Eren back for themselves. Eren is rescued only at the cost of his comrades, a truth that devastates him. In the end Ymir chooses of her own will to go with Bertholdt, leaving Historia behind.
