Chasing a come-from-behind pennant, the Hornets face the league-leading Coyotes in a final three-game set. Handed the opening-game start, Goro cruises into the last inning on a 1-0 shutout pace when a sharp pain suddenly shoots through the fingertips of his left hand. The pain worsens fast, a fatal crisis for the southpaw, yet he tries to pitch on through sheer will so no one will notice. The diagnosis is a circulatory disorder in his dominant left hand. But with a first league title in twenty-five years within reach, the team names Goro closer, and he climbs the mound again while hiding his injury. A decisive volume where two limits, dream and body, grind against each other.

Major Vol. 72 spoilers
⚠️ Spoilers ahead.
Burdened with a serious circulatory disorder, Goro cannot abandon the dream right in front of him, the league title, and defies both the team and the doctors' warnings to force his way onto the field. Holding the pain at bay with emergency measures and conservative treatment, he takes the mound, but in a cursed sixth inning the game swings hard and he is driven into a corner. Even so, true to the chapters about not giving up and striking back, a battered Goro hurls fastballs and grasps the thread of a counterattack. His willingness to sacrifice his left hand to keep pitching leads straight into the next volume's climax, where an ultimate choice between the title and his career awaits.
