In their duel with Ran, Gabimaru and Yuzuriha perfect their teamwork and force Ran into Kishikai, a state in which the body loses control and begins to break down uncontrollably. What this reveals is a core hint for beating the enemy: even a Tensen, if the balance of their Tao is broken, can be driven to a collapse close to death. Elsewhere the other landing parties clash with Tensen and the island's hazards, deepening the sense of an all-out war spanning the whole of Horai. It is also hinted that the Tensen were once a group of humans, taking the story a step closer to the enemy's true nature.
