Saichi Sugimoto earned the nickname "Immortal Sugimoto" for his ferocity in the Russo-Japanese War. Now a civilian in desperate need of money, he heads to Hokkaido during its gold rush era. There he learns of a legendary fortune in gold hidden by the Ainu, its location split into tattoos carved onto escaped convicts from Abashiri Prison. Teaming up with a resourceful young Ainu girl named Asirpa, Sugimoto sets out across the brutal northern wilderness, hunting killers and bears alike in a savage race for the treasure.
